A huge part of Christmas is writing your list to Santa and waking up in the morning to find presents under the tree, but we also want to encourage our kids to embrace the spirit of giving this season. So we’ve created a Kindness Advent Calendar, and we’d love for you to take part too!
As usual we’ve taken all of the hard work out, and provided some fun printables for you to use (and we’ve created a non-Christmassy calendar for those who don’t celebrate it).
Chocolates, toys, makeup, candles… there are so many different types of Christmas Advent Calendars out there these days. You can even get them with little tiny bottles of gin! But what about using the countdown to Christmas to give, as well as to receive?
It actually dates back all the way to the mid-19th century, when German Protestants made chalk marks on their doors and lit candles to count the days leading up to Christmas. Nowadays, like most Christmas traditions, it has been commercialised and now our advent calendars have chocolates, toys or even tiny bottles of gin for the grown-ups! All lovely to open each day, but how about this year instead of just getting a little treat each day, you teach your kids to give back each day?
