Hi, my name's Gemma and i just wanted to introduce myself. I am 24, have been married for 4 years and i was a childcare tutor until i had my daughter who is 18 months.
I have suffered with anxiety disorder since i was 12, but it got really bad just before i fell pregnant. We had been trying for a baby for two years and i eventually let my anxiety and depression fall until i developed agoraphobia. I quit work a week or so before i found out i was pregnant. I couldn't even step off my doorstep so didn't feel i'd cope with pregnancy. With counselling i have managed to push my anxiety and can leave the house and enjoy with my family, but i am still limited.
Just want to support other mother's who may be struggling and feel alone and inadequate like i did.
It's amazing what our little ones can push us to ovewcome! We can do this 💪🏼
Hi Gemma, as a fellow anxiety sufferer, and agoraphobe, I just wanted to say hi, & well done for working so hard at overcoming your fears. Like you, I am limited in what I am able to do, simply through fear (which is silly really, as I know I don't really have anything to be scared of), but I still try to push myself and take myself out of my comfort zone in order to make more memories with my family. Anxiety is horrid. It robs you of the ability to do things which you know you should be able to do, or have even done before. Sending much love to all fellow sufferers xxx
Hello and welcome!
I am glad your little one is helping you overcome your anxiety and agoraphobia. Must be exceptionally scary to deal with that. Bless you
