Anyone else out there who is far from home and their loved ones? Well, I am. I cant wait to go home and for my LO's passport to be ready... I am so bored, lonely and homesick. I just wanna go home...

Anyone feels the same way and how do you cope?

Hello,

I'm not currently living away from loved ones but I have in the past and it's so difficult.

I think if it's a short term process and you're waiting for a passport approval then all you can do is keep busy. Try to fill up your time as much as you can with things that you enjoy doing. Get out and meet people if you can. Focus on the end goal and maybe start a countdown calendar where you cross off the days until you see your family, it might help having something visual.

I hope you're reunited with your LO soon ❤️

Rhian

Whereabouts are you now and how far away are you?   I had my kids passports done over summer and they were back within a week so hopefully you won't have too long to wait.

How about skype calls in the meantime?

Look for the best things about where you are now, are there any things, places or people you'll be sorry to say goodbye to. You could make a list and tick one off every couple of days or week which will help put a positive thing on your countdown until you're home again.

Take Care

Donna x

I can totally relate to this. My parents and grandparents live in a different country and my in laws even further away. We have no one around at the moment as all our friend moved away too. It makes it so much harder to bring up your own family because you are missing that special support that only grandpa and grandma or very close friends can provide. We currently travelled to visit my family back home and we decided that hubby is going back but I'll be staying a whole extra month so that I can enjoy my last 2 months of mat leave and my little bubba can spend special time with the grannies.

Punklee where are you from originally? I'm from Italy. Happy to chat when you are having a lonely day 😉

I'm from Australia and have no immediate family here, well my husband and 2 girls obviously but that is it. I moved here for my now husband and have lived in the UK since 2003, so left behind everything I knew and all my family (parents, younger sister and all my relatives). Oddly enough my mum is British and moved to Australia as a child with her siblings and parents on a ship and now here I am living here.

I definitely find it harder since becoming a mum and my sister became a mum for the first time last year so I've only seen my nephew once when we went over for Christmas and he was 3 months old. He turned one at the weekend and that was hard, not being part of the celebrations.

I skype them every weekend and it's better then a phone call but not the same obviously.

Feel free to message me etc whenever. I still get lonely at times and want to go home.

I am from Singapore and I definitely feel the distance from my family after having my son. It's been challenging not having my parents and siblings around. We do skpe frequently and whatsapp a lot of pics home. It's not the same though. Hopefully we will get his passport soon.. Thanks for all your support, it helps!
