Your baby is now perfectly formed but needs to gain in strength and weight over the next few weeks to get ready for the big wide world. They will measure around 38 cm at this stage and will weigh around 2.5lbs. They are still making progress with their internal development too- their eyesight and brain are going through some fine tuning at this stage. An exciting fact for this week? Your other half may be able to hear your baby’s heartbeat just by placing their ear on your belly! Try it!
It’s impossible to know how your labour will be until you’re going through it unfortunately. However it’s a great idea to research all the options to do with labour and childbirth and pain relief. Whether you want a home birth, water birth, elective section or hypno birth it’s impossible to decide on your preferences before you’ve done your homework – so get reading and make sure you discuss everything with your midwife.
