Vlog Of The Week: What To Pack: Kids Carry On | Emily Norris

This week’s Vlog Of The Week is by the lovely Emily Norris. Her video on What To Pack: Kids Carry On is all about her impressive preparation for a 9 hour flight with two children and a baby. In this vlog she inspires us that anything is possible when you put your mind to it – including a long haul flight during the day with 3 little ones!

She has some incredible ideas for activities and distractions, snacks and storage. She really does make it look easy! Emily’s carry on ideas are so inspired we just had to shine a spot light on them and make it our Vlog Of The Week. Any parent will testify that travelling is not easy to do with little ones, so hats off to Emily who clearly knows a thing or two about how preparation is everything when you’re a mum! We’re sure these insider tricks to make flights more enjoyable – for the kids (and the other passengers too!) will come in very handy one day. Suddenly we’re tempted to book a holiday! (Thanks Emily!)

Vlog Of The Week: Feeling Isolated & Lonely Sometimes As A Stay At Home Mum

This week’s Vlog Of The Week is by Alex Gladwin, it’s called ‘Feeling Isolated And Lonely Sometimes As A Work At Home/Stay At Home Mum’.

The title kind of says it all, but we think that it’s an incredibly brave and honest vlog that so many mums can relate to. Motherhood is often described as lonely, but beyond that, feeling isolated isn’t discussed as much as it should be. Long days at home with little ones can be mentally challenging and emotionally difficult when you’re the only adult company you keep. Alex eloquently puts into words how loneliness can manifest in motherhood and in doing so manages to connect with so many other mums at the same time. Having only gone live a few days ago the comments under this video are full of other mother’s feeling the exact same thing.

Alex ends the vlog talking about some of the steps she is going to take to try and combat the loneliness in her life. We think she is amazing, for talking about what so many of us try to hide. Mums are very good at pretending everything is alright but actually, mums often feel alone.

Vlog Of The Week: 20 Random Facts About Me by Isabel Brandon

This week’s Vlog Of The Week is by Isabel Brandon who has put together a fun video of ’20 Random Facts About Me’ which is the perfect way to get to know her better. Often we discover a vlogger because of one particular video or topic they’ve covered off. In Isabel’s case she has done a lot of vlogs about life as a mum to a premature baby and it’s nice to put the puzzle pieces together to get to know her more.

From her age to her relationship to her job to her favourite movies and vices, we really enjoyed this feel good vlog and we’re sure you will too!

Vlog Of The Week | Sh*t That Mums Don’t Tell You About Motherhood| Natasha Bailie

This week’s Vlog Of The Week has had us laughing til we peed a little, we even cried a bit, because sometimes if you don’t laugh you’ll cry! Natasha Bailie teamed up with her pal, Asha (from Raising Teddy Yates – check out her instagram) to do a double act vlog all about the truth of what motherhood is like. Aptly called, “Sh*t That Mums Don’t Tell You About Motherhood” you know, the stuff that no mum will tell you when you’re pregnant and excited about baby cuddles (if only it were really that simple).

From childbirth to child rearing, from breast sprinklers to meal times with toddlers, this is our vlog of the week because they get it spot on. This is what motherhood is like. And we’re so glad Natasha and Asha are here to tell it like it is. Hilarious, uplifting and let’s face it – quite reassuring that this crazy rollercoaster of motherhood is being shared by so many, we had to make this our Vlog Of The Week – for making us belly laugh and feel massively understood, and in a week which started with Blue Monday (and is ending with Trump being inaugurated), let’s face it, we could all do with a lift.

Watch the vlog here and get ready to giggle:

Vlog Of The Week | Stop Being A B*tch Why Women Should Support Each Other

This week’s Vlog Of The Week has a strong message which we can all get behind. Stop Being A B*tch Why Women Should Support Each Other, by Bethanie Lunn. Her straight talking style is really refreshing as she mentions school gate bullying and bitchiness – not between children but between grown women. We’ve all got much too much going on in our lives to allow this kind of snipey, nasty behaviour to follow us around into motherhood.

Bethanie calls on us all to stop being b*tches and to basically – be nice. We all know just how hard it is to juggle everything as a mother so rather than creating friction we should embrace other women and support them.

We’re all about supporting mums and women at Channel Mum – no matter what your family dynamic is like, whether you’re a fashionista mum, a working mum, a homeschooler or a combination feeder, we’re all made up of many, many different parts, and we like to celebrate them all. Bethanie really gets it and her vlogs are always refreshingly frank about what mum life is like. Relatable, funny and real, we had to put Bethanie’s vlog as our Vlog Of The Week. Have a little watch here:

Vlog Of The Week | 2017 Goals and Positivity

It’s a brand new year and we have a really lovely Vlog Of The Week to start us off on the right note. We’re putting the spotlight on a vlog from Jessica Avey, ‘2017 Goals and Positivity’ – it’s a great video to start the new year with. Jessica has reflected on her 2016, which was a very challenging year for her family. In the vlog she recaps how she felt as her sister in law, then mother both got diagnosed with cancer, how she worried about her mum ever getting to meet her second son, Jenson when she was pregnant and how the strain of all these things impacted her relationship as well.

Jess has been through a hell of a year, sadly ending with the loss of her sister in law. But there have been positives too. Jess has shared the strength she found when her mother was given the all clear, and how baby Jenson brought light into her family.

Despite going through such challenging times, Jess is approaching 2017 with a real zest for life and positive goals to work towards. Her resolutions or goals are really humbling and inspiring and we can’t wait to see her achieve them. Her positive nature and honest account of her 2016 can’t fail to move you. If you want to feel motivated and inspired then you have to give this vlog a watch.

Vlog Of The Week: Grief When You Least Expect It

We’re getting really excited for Christmas now, but it’s always a time of year when we stop and reflect on the most important things in life and appreciate what we have. But that’s also means at this time of year it’s hard not to look back and miss the loved ones who are no longer with us.

This week’s Vlog Of The Week is by Helpful Mum, Grief When You Least Expect It. She talks about being struck down with grief for her grandma, out of the blue and how raw her emotions have been lately around the anniversary of her grandma’s birthday.

It’s at occasions like anniversaries or Christmas that grief, however new or old, can really become overwhelming, and partly because it’s not something we’re always comfortable discussing. Often we don’t want to burden people with grief which can feel so intense.

Helpful Mum, Sian,  has been very brave opening up about her grief and talking about a topic which we all can relate to, but seldom speak about. We’re sure many can empathise with what she’s saying, especially at this time of year.

Vlog Of The Week: Name My Baby

This week’s Vlog Of The Week is a really fun one – we’ve chosen Sarah-Jayne Lljungstrom’s ‘Name My Baby‘ vlog where reveals how she is struggling to come up with the perfect name for her third baby. There’s nothing we love more at Channel Mum Shedquarters than talking about baby names so this video has definitely been a highlight.

Sarah-Jayne has made some great videos in the past about picking baby names for her two sons but is stuck when it comes to baby number three. What’s more she doesn’t know the gender of her baby which makes it even harder!

Fancy coming up with the name of her baby? Sarah-Jayne has opened up the floor to suggestions!

Head over and have a watch and hear about the names she loves, the kind of names she is looking for and why not even make a suggestion or two? She’ll definitely thank you for it! Baby is due in only a few weeks time now!

Vlog Of The Week: My Ectopic Pregnancy Story

vlog-of-the-week-1-v-smallThis week’s Vlog Of The Week is by Lucie Herridge aka Lucie And The Bump, who has recently joined the Channel Mum team. Her vlogs are always frank and engaging but her recent vlog where she opened up about her ectopic pregnancy was incredibly honest and we feel, incredibly important too.

In it Lucie describes the events leading up to her ectopic pregnancy, the symptoms she experienced and how she nearly lost her life. It’s a sobering account of just how serious ectopic pregnancies are. Lucie went from not knowing she was pregnant at all, and having some stomach pains to needing to be rushed to hospital for life saving surgery in a matter of hours.

We really believe that her vlog ‘My Ectopic Pregnancy’ has the potential to save lives by talking about her experience and educating others on the signs to look out for. Brave, heartfelt and helpful, we’ve not been able to stop thinking about this vlog since we watched it.

Vlog Of The Week: Pregnancy Confessions + 5 Must Haves

Every week we highlight a vlog that we think is top notch. There’s such an amazing quantity of vlogs about parenting, motherhood and pregnancy that each week we’re hard pressed to pick which one we want to highlight. It might be a vlog that has made us giggle, has taught us something or simply made us feel understood for the first time in ages.

This week’s Vlog Of The Week goes to Samantha Maria for her incredibly frank approach to her pregnancy where she confesses to some of the things which she has been feeling or going through, including prenatal depression which is not something we often hear about. In fact she reveals that 1 in 10 pregnant women go through feelings of depression during their pregnancy.

As well as prenatal depression Samantha Maria opens up about other things about pregnancy which we’re sure all expectant mums can relate to; from losing your identity, to feeling like you can’t say if you’re not enjoying pregnancy, to the aches and pains that pregnancy brings with it, there’s a lot that we sympathised with!

We know this video will speak to so many women and the fact she is opening up the conversation about how pregnancy has made her feel, can only help others in a similar situation.

Vlog Of The Week: Why Didn’t We See It?

Every week we highlight a vlog that we think deserves to be seen by more people, whether it’s something that has made us feel warm and fuzzy, laugh out loud or blub into our coffees.

This week’s Vlog Of The Week is from Jess from 2.2 Children & A Dog. In her ‘Why Didn’t We See It?’ vlog Jess tackles a very important issue; anxiety. She talks about her son’s experiences with anxiety and how she gradually spotted the signs that he was suffering from this condition.

Her video is so honest and so heartbreaking at times that once we finished watching, her words remained with us for a long time after. It’s such a delicate issue having a child with anxiety, and it has the potential to cause real problems in daily life. What’s more, her candid account of how it has made her feel as a mum, and the measures the family is taking to improve things, are really enlightening.

Jess’s openness and honesty will be extremely helpful for other parents who suspect their child of suffering from anxiety, which is why it’s our well deserved Vlog Of The Week. All too often we don’t discuss the things that worry us or upset us, and hearing Jess describe the symptoms and issues around anxiety can only help to demystify this condition and help others in a similar situation.

Vlog Of The Week: Pay Day Haul From Brummy Mummy

It’s our second ever Vlog Of The Week, which is our new way of highlighting some of the amazing vlogging talent that’s out there.

As you know there are hundreds of mum (and dad) vloggers plugged into Channel Mum and each week we’re inundated with all the amazing uploads. We love seeing what everyone is up to and this week we’ve chosen a really feel good vlog that definitely gave us that Friday feeling.

Vlog Of The Week – Pay Day Haul – Crap I’ve Bought When Poorly

Emma Conway aka Brummy Mummy Of Two has been a bit poorly lately and confined to her dressing gown and house, but she’s never one to let life get her down.

Emma’s latest Pay Day Haul video is full of amazing seasonal bargains for Halloween as well as some practical mum fashion and Lush goodies (who doesn’t love a Lush haul?).

It’s our Vlog Of The Week because of a Friday we love a bit of haul and we’re genuinely obsessed with her sense of humour. If you can get through this without laughing then quite frankly we don’t know how to cheer you up!

Most of all after watching this video all we can think about is her living in a lighthouse wearing her Primark jumper and Joules raincoat and baking apple pies! (Watch it to see what we mean):

Vlog of The Week: IVF Diary by Jules Furness

This week we’re kicking off a brand new feature, our Vlog Of The Week, which is our way of highlighting some of the amazing vlogging talent that’s out there.

We have hundreds of  mum (and dad) vloggers plugged into Channel Mum and each week we’re inundated with all the amazing uploads. From honest and often heartbreaking stories to fun and imaginative ideas for playtime with little ones, the breadth and depth of content made by our vlogging community is something to be celebrated. And all of it touches on what it means to be a parent today.

In this new feature we’ll be choosing a vlog to highlight on our site and our social media, every single week. Whether it’s a vlog that we can’t stop talking about or a vlog that covers something we think more people need to know about, our Vlog of The Week is our little way of saying – WOW.

This is our first Vlog Of The Week and it’s a particularly special one from vlogger Jules.

Vlog Of The Week – Thrown A Curve Ball By Jules Furness

Jules Furness is mama to son Josh and is now on her IVF journey to conceive a sibling for Josh. Josh is her and Steve’s son through adoption.

After going through the menopause as a teenager, Jules has had a lot of struggles to get to this point and watching her open up so honestly about what her IVF journey is like, is nothing short of humbling. Always genuine, never afraid to hold back on the hard parts, Jules has documented her IVF story in a way that will be so helpful and inspiring to so many others in a similar situation.

We’ve chosen this powerful vlog to launch our Vlog of the Week, it shows her in Prague after her scan at the Fertility Clinic which returned an unexpected result. Hearing about the impact it had on her and seeing her talk about her worries, fears and hopes is heartbreaking viewing at times, but her resilience and her dedication to shining a light on every part of her IVF journey can only be helpful for others facing fertility issues. That’s why we’ve decided to highlight it as our Vlog Of The Week, watch it below and we think you’ll agree it’s very well deserved.
