‘Tis the season to be teary! More than half of mums have been left in floods of tears watching 2018’s year’s Xmas adverts – as more stores copy the hit ‘John Lewis formula.’ In our annual Channel Mum Xmas ads survey, a huge 53 per cent of us admitted crying at this year’s commercials, almost double the 30 per cent left dabbing their eyes over the 2017 ads. The controversial Iceland ‘Rang-tang’ ad was voted the top tearjerker, with more than a quarter of mums (26%) viewing it left sobbing. A further 21 per cent of mums confessed they cried at the John Lewis Elton John epic, and one in ten at Sainsbury’s and Boots.
