What Is Surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a way to help give a baby to people who wish to become parents but can’t for one reason or another. It involves a woman (the surrogate) carrying a baby for someone else. Whether or not the surrogate is genetically related to the child depends on whether or not they used their own eggs. Through in vitro fertilisation (IVF) the embryo will be created in a lab, and then inserted into the surrogate’s uterus.
