AMSTERDAM ON BIKES WITH KIDS | twoplustwocrew
We rented bikes from our campsite and cycled into Amsterdam using the fantastic network of free ferris to cross the river. Our campsite was in Duggerdam on the outskirts. The local ferries across the river are free and there are bike storage racks that are also free (just need a bike lock with you) so you can explore the city on foot. We did a loop around the centre of the city to see the Rijksmuseum and surrounding park.
Warning: The cycling lanes get pretty frenetic at rush hour so was a bit tricky with the kids especially as the cycle paths allow mopeds and scooters! The cycle lanes are cycling highways not really for sightseeing beginners as the Dutch are real pros and cycle very fast and efficiently….lots of practise I suppose!
The campsite we stayed at was Camping de Badhoeve.
