Breastfeeding: the textbooks vs. the truth

Channel Mum

Breastfeeding is supposed to be the most natural thing in the world but it’s not a walk in the park. Despite all the technical advice out there, in reality it’s actually very difficult to be able to perfect your baby’s latch, then there are lots of things that can complicate it; cluster feeding, inverted nipples, chaffing, mastitis – the list goes on. Breastfeeding your baby is a wonderful thing to be able to do but it’s not something that works for every mum and baby in fact only 1% of mums manage to exclusively breastfeed for the recommended 6 months. These mums have shared their personal breastfeeding stories to give you an insight into the realities of breastfeeding. This is the truth behind the breastfeeding statistics, what can go wrong, what can go right and how mums feel about their breastfeeding experiences.
