Create your own custom LUTs for your GoPro and other Videos – VscoPro LUTs?!

What Alex Did

Do you want to edit your videos like you do your photos? Then keep reading and watching 🙂

After trying countless LUTs I have bought from the internet, Magic Bullet Looks and various other ways to edit my videos, I could never find the right look which I achieved when editing my photos.

I use VSCO to edit my photos, but with the lack of VSCO tools for video, I really wanted to find another way of achieving this style in my videos.

For those that don’t know, a LUT means a ‘Look Up Table’, which is essentially the same as a Camera Raw Preset, Lightroom Preset or Photoshop Action. LUTs are great at giving you a specific looks in your video or even your images, but they are by no means a one click does all, I still finish off my videos with curves and other corrections.

I have found loads of tutorials on editing your video in Lightroom and creating LUT files using Lightroom, but I have yet to find anything on creating LUT files with Camera Raw.

So to help out others like me who bought the Camera Raw versions of VSCO or for those of you who don’t use Lightroom, I wanted to show you how to create LUT files using Camera Raw inside of Photoshop. Its actually a lot quicker and more straight forward than I thought and its also something that even the basic video editor can achieve.

In order to create your LUT files you will need to download Look Converter by Picture Instruments before you start:

Its available for both windows and mac users and it costs just $25. You can do a free 14 day trial to see if you like it. I just want to say that I am in no way affiliated with Picture Instruments.

So if you are like me and know how to use Photoshop or Lightroom to edit your photos and are making the jump over to editing your own videos, in this tutorial I will show you how to keep your photos and video consistent looking for your social media channels by using your own custom created LUTs in your videos.
