With all the kids at school (or so we believed), and a day off work, a trip to Legoland seemed like a really good idea. Little did we know politics and the weather would a have a dramatic effect on our trip.
It’s a damp, muggy afternoon by the time we got to Legoland Windsor, but the expectation of a less busy park started to fade as soon as we saw how packed the carparks were. And by the time we got through the gates, it was apparent it was almost as busy as a weekend.
Having skipped lunch it was time to get some food, and as a result, our first stop of the day was the Pirate Burger Kitchen. Not a bad place to eat both from a food standpoint, as well as from a theming perspective.
After lunch, we took a wander around the castle, browsing the shop here, as well as the pirate themed stall on the way out of Pirate land before heading on to Heartlake City and Mia’s Riding Adventure, how bad can little plastic horses be?
From here we moved on to Atlantis Submarine Voyage, a little gem of a ride towards the back of the park, and experienced the beauty of the underwater world, complete with sharks, rays, and other exotic fish.
A brief stop for a snack, and to feed the persistent ducks, and we ventured to fit in one last ride Balloon School, though the weather ended up thwarting us as far as this was concerned, as the heavens opened, ensuring that those of us foolish enough to expect an afternoon of relative dryness ended up drenched from head to foot.
Our afternoon finished with a coffee, doughnuts (while we attempted to dry ourselves off), then the customary visit to the Pick’n’Mix, and the Lego shop, before heading home.
