VSCO Portrait Speed Edit

What Alex Did

When I first started out wanting to really take my photography further than just taking photos of my family, I reached out to a local model called Nikki K.

I was really nervous before we shot as it was my very first time shooting with anyone other than family and friends. It went well and after that first shoot we booked in another 3 straight away.

This is one of the images from our first shoot together, and I am really pleased with how it turned.

Back when I was learning to use Photoshop, I practiced and practiced, and would spend hours editing practice RAW files, striving to get the perfect image every time.

As I progressed on my photography journey I realised that creating the perfect image that you would see in a magazine isn’t what its about…. Nowadays on a photo like this I would spend about 30 minutes or less depending on how much work needed doing.

Its by no means a bad image, but you can tell it could be done so much better, but I don’t care, for an Instagram image, I am more than happy.

I edited this image using a few of the resources I have learnt along the way as well as my favourite tool, VSCO.
